Community invited to Activate 2026
New Year's Day event at Beban Park

Summary
The City of Nanaimo Parks, Recreation and Culture department is launching into 2026 with its New Year's Day event held at Beban Park on Thursday, Jan. 1 from 12-5 p.m. The community is invited to start the new year by actively participating in a variety of activities. These include:
- Swimming at Beban Pool (with the running mat, pool jousting and more)
- Skating at Frank Crane Arena (12:15-1:45 p.m., 2-3:30 pm, 3:45-5 p.m.)
- Inflatables
- Magic Show
- Arts and Crafts
- Games
- Flower Photo Wall
- Collective Groove "Silent Disco"
- Face Painting
- Hot Chocolate Station (sponsored by Country Grocer)
- An Active Zone
- Tumble Time
A food truck and a concession will be on site.
Special event pricing is in effect with admission being only $10 per person (2 years and under are free). Tickets can be purchased online (barcode 158270), in person at any recreation centre or by phone.
