Council Passes Motion for Action on Tent City

At their May 25, 2018 In Camera meeting, Council passed a motion to issue trespass notices to appropriate parties relating to the tent city currently located at 1 Port Drive and has requested the RCMP’s assistance to take progressive action, including requesting occupants to vacate the area within 72 hours, ticketing, and enforcing the Trespass Act. Furthermore, if these actions are not effective, the City will seek a civil injunction in the Supreme Court of BC.

The occupants have been provided areas within the city where they are permitted to have overnight shelter between the hours of 7:00 pm and 9:00 am.
