2018 Business Licence Fees are Due

Are you doing business in or from Nanaimo?

Did you know that a business licence is required for anyone doing business for profit in or from Nanaimo? Business licence renewal invoices have been mailed to all businesses that currently have an active business licence. Before submitting payment for your 2018 licence, please take a moment to carefully review your invoice and advise the Business Licensing Section of any changes to your licence, business address or contact information. The information you provide is available on the City of Nanaimo's Business Licence search, so help us help others easily find you and your business.

“Business Licences can easily be renewed online or over the phone. Alternatively, our staff is happy to assist in person at the Service and Resource Centre located at 411 Dunsmuir Street” says Heidi Davidson, Manager, Permit Centre and Business Licensing.

For businesses that are mobile and provide a service to other communities, the City of Nanaimo has partnered with surrounding communities and now offers an inter-community business licence. If you currently have licences to cover several communities, the inter-community licence may be a better option for your business. For more information, please contact the Business Licensing Section or check out our pages on the City's website at www.nanaimo.ca.

The construction industry is booming, but did you know that sub-contractors also require a business licence? It's true. Any sub-contractor involved in Nanaimo's construction industry who do not currently have a licence, please contact Business Licensing.

If you receive a renewal notice, but have decided to not pursue business in Nanaimo in the upcoming year, please contact the Business Licensing Section by the end of the year so your account can be closed. Any business that does not renew its licence by December 31 will be considered as not in good standing.

Did not receive an invoice? Please contact us at 250-755-4482.

The Business Licensing team wishes you a prosperous 2018.
