Fire investigation concludes for 361 Albert St. structure fire

Summary

The investigation of the November 29, 2014 structure fire at 361 Albert Street is now complete. The following results have been reported to the BC Coroners Service.

Nanaimo Fire Rescue Department fire investigators and an independent private fire investigator have concluded that the fire originated in an upholstered chair in the main living room of the residence. The exact cause of the fire is undetermined due to the intensity of the fire in the area of origin. A hard-wired smoke alarm was present in the home, however the breaker was found to be shut off at the electrical panel.
