On July 1, Find Plaid and Wunderbread in Maffeo Sutton Park

Nanaimo Canada Day Celebrations

Canada Day festivities will be held in Maffeo Sutton Park from 11:00 am until 3:30 pm on Sunday, July 1. Wear red, white and plaid and celebrate our nation's 151st birthday.

On the main stage, enjoy the Celebration of Flags and performances by Wunderbread, Little Crow and Moonshine Molly's. The community showcase stage will feature a wide range of entertainment including Scottish Dance, Aunti Bobbi, Aloha Nanaimo Hula and many others. Throughout the day, attendees will find roving entertainers, Bowen Road Farmers' Market, complimentary bouncy castle fun, interactive community booths, face painting, cake from Columbia Bakery and much more.

"We have a great family-oriented event planned for Canada Day. Shop the Farmers' market, enjoy a variety of food vendors and take advantage of the free activities" said Tracy Stuart, Recreation Coordinator.

Only handicap parking will be available in Maffeo Sutton Park on Canada Day. However, there are many free parking options nearby. Free parking is available in the the Bastion Street parkade, Harbour Front parkade, Port of Nanaimo Centre parkade and Wallace/Wentworth parking lot. On-street city meters are also free of charge for a two hour limit. City transit will be running on Canada Day for those who wish to commute.
