Job Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking casual Refuse Collector/Operators. Under the direction of the Sanitation & Cemetery Supervisor, the Refuse Collector/Operator operates various refuse collection vehicles to collect garbage, organics, and recycling materials.

Applicants must have completed Grade 12 and have a minimum of 3 months’ experience driving a refuse collection vehicle. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Possession of a valid Class 3 BC Drivers’ Licence with Air Endorsement is required for this position.

Compensation and Benefits

These are unionized positions. $32.24 - $33.94 per hour (Jan 2021 Rate). There are no guaranteed hours associated with these positions.  Hours of work could range from 0 – 40 hours per week.
