City of Nanaimo seeking feedback on final phase of planning for Woodgrove area
Third phase looks at policies, actions and monitoring framework for the area
NEWS RELEASE - Distributed January 12, 2026 10:00 AM
Summary
The City of Nanaimo is seeking input from residents on a proposed roadmap for transforming the Woodgrove area into a vibrant place to live, work and play. Now in Phase Three, the Woodgrove Area Plan project is focusing on identifying the policies, actions and monitoring framework needed to achieve the goal of a complete community for the area.
The results of the project will see a Woodgrove Area Plan that provides detailed land use and policy guidance for future development in the Woodgrove Secondary Urban Centre. The Plan is intended to build on the vision found in City Plan: Nanaimo ReImagined.
Between June and July 2025, feedback was received from over 440 survey and workshop participants on the three potential growth scenarios. The results are summarized in the Phase 2 – Woodgrove Area Plan Engagement Summary.
A survey will be open from Jan. 12 to 25, 2026, to collect feedback on the proposed policies, actions and monitoring framework. You can access the survey and find additional information on the Woodgrove Area Plan page on Get Involved Nanaimo.
