Capital Projects

Nanaimo Council  is consistently making strategic investments in City assets and infrastructure to ensure great quality of life for its residents, businesses and visitors alike. Over the next Five years (2022-2026) $310 million is slated to be spent on water, transportation, parks, facilities, drainage, sanitary sewer and equipment.

Major Projects

In 2020 and 2021, there were 35 projects with a minimum value of $2 million or more.  In 2021, many of the larger projects included public sector development such as the addition of an Acute Care ICU at NRGH, elementary school additions and upgrades, new provincial rental housing and Fortis BC office upgrades.  In 2020, many of the larger projects were apartment buildings,  and some mixed-use projects, including Fire Station #1. For more information explore the map above.
