Why wait? City encouraging use of electronic billing to manage City accounts

Summary

At the end of this month Canada Post’s stamp prices will increase. It is even one more reason to sign up for ‘MyBills’, the City’s online electronic delivery tool for various City statements including property tax bills, user rate statements and business licences.

User rate statements have been available for over two years with ‘MyBills’ and this is the second year that email delivery for property taxes will be available. Home owners benefit from receiving their notices as soon as they are produced, directly to their email. There is no need to print statements as you are able to logon to your MyCity account twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week to view current and prior year notices.

To sign up for this electronic service, property owners need to register with MyCity by visiting mycity.nanaimo.ca. Once they have created a MyCity account and successfully activated it, the property owners must change their delivery method to email for their registered accounts by going to the ‘MyBills’ tab or follow the detailed instructions at www.nanaimo.ca/goto/mycity.

Why wait? Sign up to receive your City of Nanaimo billings through ‘MyBills’ today.

Link to Strategic Plan: The City of Nanaimo's ability to deliver notices electronically contributes to one of the 6 strategic priorities from the City's Strategic Plan. We are 'Taking Responsibility' and utilizing available technology.

Key Points

  • Canada Post will be increasing stamp prices from 65 cents to 85 cents starting March 31, 2014.
  • The City of Nanaimo has well over 35,000 properties. This increase in stamp prices will result in a cost increase of approximately $22,600.
  • Signing up to receive your tax notices, user rate statements and business licence renewals by email will increase convenience and save taxpayers’ dollars.
