Key Points

  • In 2013 potable water in Nanaimo met both the federal and provincial standards for drinking water quality.
  • The City collected raw and potable water samples that were uniquely identified and sent to provincially approved laboratories for testing.
  • Water sample parameters listed in the report are identified in the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality maximum acceptable concentrations or based upon aesthetic objectives.
  • The report lists a few representative parameters that the City tests for, although several more are tested.

Quotes

"Over the past year, Public Works Operations staff have worked hard to ensure that there is an adequate supply of safe, clean potable water in Nanaimo. With regular water quality sampling undertaken throughout the year all residents and business will be pleased to learn that their drinking water met all the standards identified in the Provincial Drinking Water Protection Act."
