Parks and Recreation Commission honours Nanaimo's top athletes and performers

On Wednesday, October 14, the City recognized athletes and performers who have brought honour to Nanaimo through their outstanding performances.

The Parks and Recreation Commission presented certificates of congratulations and medallions to all individuals, groups, teams, and clubs who, through their endeavours, have brought recognition on a Provincial or Western Canadian level to Nanaimo.

  • The awards honoured 34 individuals who won Gold medals at the following events: 2015 British Columbia Festival of the Arts, 2015 British Columbia 55+ Mixed Slo-Pitch Championships, 2015 Masters Swimming Association of British Columbia’s Provincial Championships and the 2015 55+ BC Games.
  • The Parks and Recreation awards night occurs twice per year in the spring and fall.
