City seeking input on Linley Valley access

Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking public input on access options to Linley Valley West, a new neighbourhood currently being developed in Linley Valley between Rutherford Road and the new Linley Valley Park.

An open house was held at Oliver Woods Community Centre last Thursday which was well attended by residents and provided valuable feedback for City staff. For those who weren't able to attend the open house, a survey is available to fill out online and in person at the Service and Resource Centre.

Link to Strategic Plan: The development of access for all modes of transportation within neighbourhoods is a goal of the Nanaimo Transportation Master Plan.

  • Those wishing to provide input can do so by completing an survey online or in person at the Service and Resource Centre. The survey will be available until Friday, October 16.
  • Once feedback is received, staff will provide Council with the results from the consultation process and inform the selection of a preferred access option.

  • Two access options are being considered; a new road linking Linley Valley Drive and Rutherford Road at Nelson Rd or utilizing existing neighbourhood streets to link to Rutherford at Vanderneuk Rd and Brookwood Dr.
