Fire crews extinguish fire at Franklyn Street gym

Summary

Shortly after midnight on Thursday, October 18, 2018, Nanaimo Fire Rescue responded to a fire at the Franklyn Street Gym located at 421 Franklyn St. Upon arrival, smoke was showing from the side of the building and a fire had spread to the roof. Firefighters from all four stations responded to this incident and worked for over three hours to bring it under control.

Fire investigators have determined that the fire is suspicious and will be been turned over to the Nanaimo RCMP.
