Inter-Community Business Licence Bylaw 2025 No. 7435

Inter-Community Business Licence Bylaw 2025 No. 7435 received first, second and third reading on December 15, 2025.  The proposed bylaw, if adopted, replaces Inter-Community Business Licence Bylaw No. 7176 and provides updates aimed to strengthen enforcement and ensure equitable licensing practices within all participating Vancouver Island municipalities.

The proposed bylaw is scheduled to proceed to Council for adoption at its Regular Meeting to be held Monday, January 19, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. in the Shaw Auditorium, Vancouver Island Conference Centre, 80 Commercial Street.  Delegations requesting permission to speak to Inter-Community Business Licence Bylaw 2025 No. 7435 are requested to submit a written notification to the Legislative Services Department prior to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026.  Applications to appear as a delegation are available at the Legislative Services Department or online at nanaimo.ca/your-government/city-council/council-meetings/appearing-as-a-delegation.

The proposed bylaw and the accompanying staff report are available for viewing at the Service and Resource Centre, Permit Centre and Business Licensing, 411 Dunsmuir Street or via the City’s website www.nanaimo.ca.
