Committee recommendations
A requirement to incorporate graffiti proofing on new developments will be further explored by the City.

The 2017 Annual Financial Statements for the City  were approved and staff will work with auditors at KPMG to address recommendations in their report. 

Travel grants of $50 for a player from Cedar School Secondary Senior A Basketball to attend the Senior Boys Single A Island Basketball Championships in Ucluelet, $350 for seven players of the Vancouver Island University Mariners Volleyball Club to attend the Provincial Championships in Richmond, $900 for 18 athletes from the Vancouver Island Special Need Hockey Association to attend the 2018 Adaptive Hockey Challenge in Kelowna and $600 for six musicians from Wellington Secondary School to attend MusicFest Canada – Canadian Nationals in Toronto were approved.

The Nanaimo Youth Advisory Committee has laid out their goals for 2018 including youth poverty, transportation and event participation and organization.

An update to the City’s Building Bylaw passed three readings.

Bylaw updates
The bylaw to borrow funds for rebuilding Fire Station #1 was adopted.
