Section 5a

COVID-19 Recovery Plan
Council has approved the City’s COVID-19 Recovery Plan.

Beginning July 20th, delegation requests by members of the public will be permitted for both related and unrelated Council/Committee matters and all Council and Committee meetings will be livestreamed and recorded. Members of the public who are not registered as delegations will not be permitted to attend meetings in person (other than Public Hearings) as physical distancing requirements cannot be assured.

Council approved a reopening plan for Arenas, which outlines a gradual reopening beginning on July 27th.

Roadway Reallocation
Council has given approval for staff to proceed with a number of options that see roadway space reallocated in support of active transportation. The total cost for implementing the four options is $170,000 with funds to be reallocated from existing budgets. Options include:

  1. Cycling lane on Departure Bay Road (between Montrose Ave. and Loat St.)
  2. “Slow Street” on Georgia Avenue
  3. Neighbourhood Grant Program
  4. Boxwood Road Walking Shoulder
