Integrated Survey Area program

Council has committed to the Integrated Survey Area program and staff will continue to maintain integrated survey monuments within the City of Nanaimo. Integrated Survey Areas have been a foundation of surveying and mapping in BC for the last 50+ years, providing a reliable and cost-effective method of standardizing high accuracy surveys in Nanaimo.
Section 12a

Development around Nanaimo

A Development Variance Permit for 704 Hyatt Place, to facilitate an alteration to an existing single residential dwelling, was approved.
Section 12b

A Development Variance Permit for 2230 Neil Drive, to facilitate a two-lot subdivision, was approved.
Section 12c

A Covenant Amendment Application for 416 Wakesiah, to increase the allowable number of beds in a proposed student housing development, passed three readings. The application will now proceed to a Public Hearing for final consideration.
Section 12d

A Rezoning Application for 6004 Nelson Road, to allow a multiple-family development, passed two readings. A third reading will be considered once the required conditions and covenants have been secured.
Section 12e

A Development Permit Application for 4961 Songbird Place, to allow for a multi-family residential development with 98 rental units, was approved.
Section 12f

Council Key Date Calendar

Council approved the 2022 Council Key Date Calendar, setting the meeting dates for Regular Council meetings and Public Hearings in 2022.
Section 12g

Bylaw Updates

"Zoning Amendment Bylaw 2021 No. 4500.185" (To rezone 1621 Northfield Road from Single Dwelling Residential [R1] to Residential Corridor [COR1]) was adopted.
Section 13a

"Council Procedure Bylaw Amendment Bylaw 2021 No. 7272.03" (To authorize the holding of electronic meetings and remote participation by Council members) was adopted.
Section 13b

"Property Tax Exemption Bylaw 2021 No. 7332" (To provide exemption from 2022 property taxes) was adopted.
