RDN Public Notice - Application to Proceed with Erosion Mitigation Project

The RDN has made an Application for Approval under the Canadian Navigable Waters Act to proceed with work to cover and protect an exposed section of wastewater pipe on the north shore of Nanaimo. The North Shore Interceptor pipe carries wastewater from Lantzville and north Nanaimo to the Wellington Pump Station. Waves have eroded some of the beach and exposed some sections of the interceptor pipe. The project would add cobble fill and four rocky headlands to cover and protect the exposed section of the interceptor pipe.

The public is invited to comment on this application, for the next 30 days, as per the notice filed with Minister of Transport, Government of Canada. Click here to read the notice and for information on how to provide comments.
