eTown Hall held
An eTown Hall took place at the start of the Council meeting featuring questions on the draft 2018-2022 Financial Plan. Residents could participate on the City website, Facebook, Twitter, email, phone or in person.

More funding for Downtown events
The Downtown Event Revitalization Funding Program received a boost in funding from $117,121 in 2017 to $150,000 in 2018.

Amending user fees for 2018
Lowering the rate for providing bulk water to South West Extension in 2018 from $2.68 per 1,000 gallons to $2.42 per 1,000 gallons passed three readings.

Amending the fees for sanitary sewer from $123.79 per household to $129.98 per household passed three readings.

Increasing water rates from $477.84 in 2017 to $513.68 in 2018 passed three readings.

Development around Nanaimo
Development permits with variances were issued for a mixed use development at 525 Third Street, a roof addition to an existing patio at 139 Wildlife Place.

Continuing core review recommendations
Staff will report to Council on the scope of Phase 2 of the Core Review so work can begin as early in 2018 as possible.
