Committee & Task Force Meetings Postponed
Due to concerns regarding COVID-19, all Task Force and Committee meetings, including Finance and Audit and Governance and Priorities Committee meetings, are being postponed until further notice.
Section 6b

Committee Recommendations
Staff will revise the draft bylaw regarding regulating single-use checkout bags and bring forward for three readings at a future Council meeting. The bylaw will be forwarded to the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Strategy for approval.

2020 Appointments to the Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel
Councillors Brown, Turley and Hemmens were appointed as primary members and Councillor Maartman as the alternate to the Parcel Tax Roll Review Panel for a term ending 2020-DEC-31.

Regional District of Nanaimo “Drinking Water and Watershed Protection Service Amendment Bylaw No. 1556.04, 2020”
Consent was given for the adoption of the Regional District of Nanaimo’s “Drinking Water and Watershed Protection Service Amendment Bylaw No. 1556.04, 2020”.

Regional District of Nanaimo "Regional Parks and Trails Service Area Amendment Bylaw No. 1231.07, 2020"
Consent was given for the adoption of the Regional District of Nanaimo’s “Regional District of Nanaimo Regional Parks and Trails Service Area Amendment Bylaw No. 1231.07, 2020”.
Section 10 d

Front Street Cycle Track
Council approved the final design of the Bi-Directional Cycle Track on Front Street and amended the 2020-2024 Financial Plan to accelerate the project from 2021 to 2020.
Section 10 e

Memorial Plaque
A plaque will be installed Dallas Square, next to the “100 Years of Coal” memorial, in memory of the Great Coal Strike of 1912-1914. The memorial is provided and paid for by the B.C. Labour Heritage Centre.

Development around Nanaimo
Staff will proceed with a Public Hearing for Covenant Amendment Application at 6340 McRobb Avenue, to allow for a multi-family residential development. Covenants FB226410 and FB287633 will be amended should Council support the application following the Public Hearing.
Section 10 g

A development permit has been issued at 2338 Kenworth Road, to allow for an automobile sales, service and rental development.
Section 10 h

A rezoning application for 5801 Turner Road, to allow for a Cannabis Retail Store, passed two readings. A third reading will be considered once a community contribution has been secured.
Section 10 i

Bylaw updates
“Zoning Amendment Bylaw 2019 No. 4500.163” (To rezone 5800 Turner Road to allow “Cannabis Retail Store” as a site-specific use in the City Commercial Center Centre [CC3] zone) was adopted.
