PARKS, RECREATION AND CULTURE

SCHEDULE UPDATES:

The Vancouver Island Exhibition (VIEX) will be taking place at Beban Park from September 20-22. If you are a regular participant at Beban Park during this time, we want to ensure you are aware of a few things due to the variety of events and programs taking place at the same time that will result in Beban Park being a very busy place:

  • All recreation facilities (pool, arena, weight room, Beban Social Centre, sports fields) are open during the VIEX event
  • Parking will be on a first-come, first-served basis (see parking map attached)
  • A shuttle service is available from North Town Nanaimo Centre (schedule is noted on the parking map)
  • Parking attendants will be on site all weekend to provide information during the event
  • If possible, we are encouraging those coming to Beban Park to walk, ride/cycle, carpool, take transit or be dropped off or picked up
  • 3-hour parking is in effect throughout the weekend at Beban Park
  • The parking lot in front of the pool is designated as accessible parking for the whole weekend
  • All other parking lots are open for general parking to all fair goers and facility/park users
  • The drop off lane in front of the Social Centre will be heavily used this weekend as we encourage facility users to drop off and pick up as much as possible
  • Access to Cliff McNabb Arena will be through the Breezeway between the Social Centre and the Frank Crane Arena down the sidewalk behind the Frank Crane Arena
