Animal Licensing and Control

The City of Nanaimo has established rules and regulations to control pets and other animals within the City. These regulatory rules have been established by Council through various policies and bylaws to provide for the enjoyment and protection of the community's general population.

Enforcement of the animal control policies and regulations for the City has been contracted to the Nanaimo Animal Shelter. Staff routinely patrol parks and enforce the animal control and parks bylaw.
