Beban Park Facilities Redevelopment

Beban Park is 35 years old. While it continues to attract a loyal group of users it struggles to meet the changing needs of Nanaimo residents today and it lacks the flexibility to keep pace with future changes.

An open house was held on February 27, 2010 to provide the community with three (3) options to consider for the Beban Park Redevelopment.

• Do nothing
• Replace it
• Redevelop

88% of respondents supported Redevelopment of three of Beban Parks' facilities. Concepts for the redevelopment are included in the Beban Park Redevelopment Plan final report.

Based on a Parks, Recreation and Culture recommendation, on April 19, 2010, City Council received the plan to act as a guide to potential future improvement to the facilities.
