Employment Opportunities
The Human Resources Department is responsible for a variety of services including employment, staffing, benefits, compensation, labour relations, training and development, and occupational health and safety.
Employment activities encompass city-wide recruitment, filling all job vacancies, and orientation for new employees.
The Training and Development section delivers a wide range of training programs including leadership development, orientations, succession planning, and computer training.
The Labour Relations section handles the administration of the City's collective agreements as well as providing advice and assistance to City staff on labour relations issues.
The Occupational Health and Safety section ensures the City is in compliance with WCB health and safety guidelines, coordinates the City's safety program and provides advice and support to departmental safety sub-committees.
The City of Nanaimo has an extremely versatile workforce of over 450 people who are employed in a variety of different functions including, but not restricted to:
