Recycling Drop-Off Services

In addition to Curbside Recycling, residents can take advantage of a variety of household hazardous waste, yard and garden waste and recycling drop-off opportunities provided by the Nanaimo Recycling Exchange ( NRE ) at 2477 Kenworth Road. They are generally open 7 AM to 7 PM daily, except for Christmas Day. To contact them and confirm hours of operation call 250-758-7777.  The same basic products as those collected by the City's curbside recycling program are accepted at the NRE drop-off, plus glass food and beverage containers. Glass is only collected at the NRE drop-off facility. Glass is not collected as part of the curbside service. Preparation of residential based household paper, cardboard, metal and glass food and beverage containers, and plastic household containers is as outlined in the Recycling Guide. See the information below, which outlines some of the additional services provided to the community by the NRE.
