General Local Election City of Nanaimo 2026 Municipal Election City of Nanaimo 2026 Municipal Election I VOTED! General Voting Day is October 17, 2026 8 am-8 pm Requirements to Vote: To vote in the election, you must either be a Resident Elector or Non-Resident Property Elector. Resident Electors: • 18 years of age or older on general voting day. • Canadian citizen. • Have lived in BC for at least 6 months immediately before the day you vote (April 16, 2026). • Not be disqualified by law from voting. Non-Resident Property Electors: • 18 years of age or older on general voting day. • Canadian citizen. • Have lived in BC for at least 6 months immediately before the day you vote (April 16, 2026). • Have owned property in the City of Nanaimo for at least 30 days (September 16, 2026). • Individuals who hold the property in trust for a corporation or another trust are not eligible to vote. • Not be disqualified by law from voting. • Have the written consent of the majority of the other property owner(s) to vote on their behalf. Only one non-resident property elector per property may vote, regardless of how many people own the property. Mail Ballot Voting: Mail Ballot voting is available for all eligible voters. Applications will be available online at nanaimo.ca/elections and through the Legislative Services Office during business hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm), excluding statutory holidays, between Tuesday, September 1 at 9 am ending at 4 pm on Friday, October 16. Nomination Packages: Nomination packages will be available for pick-up from City Hall at 455 Wallace Street as of Tuesday, August 4 during business hours (8:30 am to 4:30 pm; excluding statutory holidays).
