Candidates must file nomination papers with the Chief Election Officer (CEO) or designate at the Legislative Services Office at City Hall during the Nomination Period starting at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 2018‑SEP‑04, and ending at 4:00 p.m. Friday, 2018‑SEP‑14, excluding holidays. It is required that each Candidate make an appointment to file their nomination packages. Please call Legislative Services to make an appointment. Those persons unable to deliver nominations in person may swear the documents before a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits in BC (such as a lawyer or notary public), and mail, deliver or fax documents to the attention of the CEO by the deadline; however, if sent by fax, the CEO must receive the originals by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, 2018-SEP-21. From the time of receipt, the nomination documents are available to the public for inspection at the Legislative Services Office at City Hall and on the City of Nanaimo’s website.
As nominations are received during the Nomination Period 2018-SEP-04 – 2018‑SEP‑14, Staff will update the Candidates’ Contact Information List which will be posted on the City’s website. After 2018‑SEP‑14, candidate information for all BC Municipalities will also be posted on the CivicInfo BC website.
The final list of candidates will be available on Friday, 2018-SEP-21, after 4:00 p.m. (which is the last day for a candidate to withdraw).
