Meeting about BC’s speculation tax 
The City will seek to meet with the three local MLAs to address concerns over BC’s new speculation tax being applied to homes in Nanaimo.

Funding ask for Discovery Centre
A funding ask for $100,000 for the proposed Ocean Discovery Centre will be added to a future Finance and Audit Committee agenda for consideration.

Supporting seniors’ services
Council supported a shared declaration from the United Way and Nanaimo Family life Association to “recognize the importance of community-based seniors’ services health promotion and prevention work, need for capacity building, and importance of collaboration”.

The City has appointed William Edwards as a new Bylaw officer.
