A change of scenery for COW meetings
Committee of the Whole meetings will now take place in the Service and Resource Centre board room located at 411 Dunsmuir Street. The change of venue is to create a less formal setting and potentially save the City $21,000 rental and other fees annually related to holding the meetings in the Vancouver Island Conference Centre. Staff will begin the process of making the boardroom ready for COW meetings to be broadcast on the City website.

Looking ahead to 2017
Taxes are expected to increase 2% in 2017 along with a user rate increase of 5% for sewer, 7.5% for water and 2% for solid waste collection.

Youth taken out of the cold
$75,000 will be set aside for the provision of emergency shelter beds for youth. City staff is working with community partners to determine where the beds will be located.
