Job Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent part-time Watch Clerk. Under the general supervision of the Manager, Police Support Services, and under the direct supervision of the Records Supervisor, the Watch Clerk enters, removes, and edits all relevant data into the Police Records Information Management Environment (PRIME), Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR), File Tracker, and Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) computer systems. The incumbent performs classification and quality assurance reviews of general duty operational files.

Applicants must have completed grade 12 and have a minimum of 2 years’ related experience, including experience in a law enforcement office environment or data entry experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Attainment and maintenance of RCMP Reliability/Security clearance is mandatory for this position.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a unionized position.  $34.62 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2022 Rate). Shift work will be involved in this position including weekend and evening shifts.  Minimum hours for this position will be 24 hours per week.
