Subdivision Approvals Manager/Deputy Approving Officer

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Subdivision Approvals Manager/Deputy Approving Officer. Reporting to the Manager of Current Planning & Subdivision, the Subdivision Approvals Manager/Deputy Approving Officer is responsible for the planning, organizing, direction and control of the Subdivision section of the Community Development Department. The incumbent will represent the City in regards to subdivision requirements associated with land development proposals.

Applicants must have a University Degree in Civil Engineering, Planning, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience in subdivision design, approval and assessment and engineering and municipal infrastructure associated with land development, including a minimum of 3 years’ in a management or supervisory role. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Membership or eligibility in an association such as ASTTBC, the Association of Professional Engineers, or P.I.B.C. is required. A diploma in Municipal Administration would be considered an asset. Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.

This is an Excluded position and a competitive salary and comprehensive benefit package is included.
