Job Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a temporary part-time Recreation Leader III to coordinate the LIT and Quest Programs. Under the supervision of a Recreation Coordinator, the incumbent will provide leadership that involves promoting, planning, implementing and supervising children aged 12 to 18 in a variety of recreational pursuits.

Applicants must have completed Grade 12 and have 3 months’ supervisory experience along with 1 year of experience instructing and planning programs in a recreational environment, including working with children (ages 12 to 18). A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence with access to private transportation is required as well as a satisfactory Criminal Record Check. Applicants must also possess a valid Emergency or Standard First Aid and CPR “C” or “B” certificate from Red Cross or St. John Ambulance. Online certifications will not be accepted.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a unionized position. $23.80 per hour (Jan 2021 Rate). Hours of work will be approximately 8 – 12 hours per week. Shift work will be involved with this position; extensive weekend and evening work will be required. It is anticipated this assignment will end April 1, 2022.
