Job Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Recreation Coordinator – Cultural Services.  Reporting to the Manager, Culture & Events the incumbent coordinates the development and administration of the City’s public art program and collaborates with staff to develop, plan, facilitate and evaluate a range of arts and culture programs and services to advance the strategic priorities of the City, contribute to the vibrancy of the arts and culture sector in Nanaimo, and create value for broad, diverse audiences.

Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline: Arts Management, Cultural Planning, Community Development, Art History or Cultural Studies.  A minimum of 2 years’ recent experience coordinating cultural programs and working with artists, creative professionals and non-profit organizations to conceptualize and implement major projects, including 1 year of related supervisory experience.

Applicants must possess a valid class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a unionized position.  $38.26 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2020 Rate), based on a 40 hour work week.  A comprehensive benefit package is included.
