Job Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Parks Maintenance Worker - Trails. Under the general supervision of the Trails Supervisor, the incumbent carries out the construction, maintenance and repair of trails, bridges, stairs, boardwalks, drainage systems and other park-related structures.

Applicants must have completed Grade 12, have a minimum of 1 year vocational training in building trades, specifically carpentry, as it relates to Municipal Park trail construction and maintenance, plus a minimum of 1 year experience in construction and maintenance. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A valid Class 3 BC Driver’s License with air endorsement is required as well as a valid First Aid certificate.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a unionized position.  $32.62 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2019 Rate), based on 40 hour work week.  A comprehensive benefit package is included. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
