Job Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Infrastructure Specialist. Under the general direction of the Infrastructure Planning and Energy Manager, the incumbent assists with the development and implementation of long-term asset management plans for civic facilities and City owned assets. This includes performing on-site condition assessment inspections of buildings and building systems. The Infrastructure Specialist assists with the capital budgeting process and identifies and implements energy efficiency improvement projects.

Applicants must have completed grade 12 and have a technical diploma from a recognized College or Technical Institute in a specialty such as engineering or building sciences.  A minimum of 5 years’ related experience is required in managing facility related projects including electrical, mechanical, structural, building envelope, building systems, major capital infrastructure, building and building system inspections, condition assessments and energy management.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

Applicants must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License as well as a membership or eligibility for membership as an Applied Science Technologist with ASTTBC (Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia).

Compensation and Benefits

This is a unionized position.  $37.58 per hour - after Probation (Jul 2016 Rate), based on a 40 hour work week.  A comprehensive benefit package is included. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
