FOI & Records Supervisor (Temporary Full-Time)

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a temporary full-time FOI & Records Supervisor. Under the general direction of the City Clerk, the incumbent is responsible for supervising the FOI and Records Management processes, including ensuring timely responses to requests under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act; overseeing the claims administration function and coordinating liability claims and insurance for the City; coordinating the development, implementation and maintenance of the City’s records management program; supervising staff in relation to the above, and on other Legislative Services matters as directed by the City Clerk. This position also assists with the election process.

Applicants must have completed Grade 12, hold a diploma in Business or Public Administration, and have received a certificate/designation with Canadian Institute of Access and Privacy Professionals or eligibility for this certification. A minimum of 4 years’ related experience in local government, including a minimum of 2 years’ of experience administering FOI and liability claims and records management including 1 year of supervisory experience is also required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a unionized position, $38.53 - $40.56 per hour (July 2016 Rate - Subject to Job Evaluation Review), based on a 35 hour work week. It is anticipated that this vacancy will be up to one year in duration.
