The City of Nanaimo is seeking 4 temporary part-time Facility Attendants. Under the supervision of the Arenas Manager, the Facility Attendant performs clean-up work and other related duties. Work may involve helping other staff with the set up and take down of equipment for special events and related duties.
Duties and Responsibilities
Typical duties and responsibilities include:
- Serves users of the facility by opening and closing the building; ensuring safety procedures are followed; cleaning washrooms and other areas (sweeps, washes and restocks); and cleaning after events.
- Sets up for events at the facility by assisting to set up staging and related equipment; putting out chairs and numbering them; helps move equipment and supplies as required; assists securing building as required.

Ideal candidates will have knowledge of janitorial procedures and the ability to comprehend and carry out written and oral instructions. Applicants must have completed Grade 9 and have a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a unionized position. $17.30 per hour (Jan 2018 Rate). Hours of work will be 0 – 20 hours per week. Shift work will be involved (including evenings and weekends). It is anticipated that these vacancies will be up to 8 months in duration (April 2019).
