Job Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Engineering Projects Technologist. Under the general direction of the Project Engineer, the incumbent carries out the engineering design for streets, traffic signals, street lighting, road drainage, sanitary sewer works, storm sewer works, water works, and other civil works. The Engineering Projects Technologist also prepares contract drawings for engineering projects, directs and monitors the work of other staff and consultants, compiles and reviews cost estimates, terms of reference, proposals, designs, studies, and specifications, and provides assistance in the development of procedures and policies.

Applicants must have a diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from an accredited Technical Institute, plus specialized courses related to engineering design, software, and project management. A minimum of 5 years’ related experience is required. Applicants must be a member or be eligible for membership in the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia as an Applied Science Technologist. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence is required for this position.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a unionized position.  $42.01 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2021 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week.  A comprehensive benefit package is included.
