Job Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Engineering Development Technician. Under the direction of the Manager, Engineering and Environment, the incumbent reviews, interprets and approves construction design related to public works for new developments and subdivisions; liaises with other internal and external departments and agencies; and provides technical support in connection with other development related issues and departmental planning.

Requirements

Applicants must have completed Grade 12 and have a diploma from a recognized technical institute in engineering, plus specialized courses related to civil engineering design. A minimum 3 years’ experience in land development design and/or approval is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Membership or eligibility for membership in Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia (A.S.T.T.B.C.) as a Civil Technologist is required. Applicants must also possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a unionized position.  $38.04 per hour - after Probation (Jan 2019 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week.  A comprehensive benefit package is included. This position is anticipated to start in July 2019.
