Cross Connection Control Coordinator (Competition 18-61)

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Cross Connection Control Coordinator. The Cross Connection Control Coordinator will inspect private and public premises for cross connections, setting requirements, monitoring for compliance, tracking and reporting backflow device inventory, statistics and test results. Duties are performed both independently and in a team environment throughout the entire City. The incumbent must have technical understanding and judgement to resolve technical challenges in the day-to-day activities.

Applicants must have completed Grade 12 plus received a diploma from a recognized technical institute in mechanical engineering, civil engineering, building sciences, hydraulics, water quality or a related discipline or an Interprovincial Trades Qualification in Plumbing. Possession of Backflow Assembly Tester certification is required along with a minimum of 4 years’ experience working in municipal water utility, engineering, installation or maintenance or plumbing inspections department or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Possession of a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence and satisfactory Criminal Record Check is required.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a unionized position. $35.34 per hour - after Probation (Jul 2016 Rate), based on a 40 hour work week. A comprehensive benefit package is included. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
