Communication & Digital Content Specialist

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a Communication and Digital Content Specialist. Reporting to the Director of Communication and Community Engagement, the Communication and Digital Content Specialist supports the City's digital strategy to enhance the City’s communications goals and support public engagement. Primary responsibilities include planning and writing for the City’s website, blog and social media accounts as well as writing, shooting and editing the City’s video projects. The incumbent is a member of the Communication and Community Engagement Department and works as part of its small centralized team to action the goals and objectives contained in the City’s Communication Plan and related strategies. Providing both technical and advisory services, this role is highly collaborative and regularly liaises with immediate team members as well as representatives from all City departments and services.

Applicants must have a diploma in Broadcast and Media Communications or a related field and a minimum three (3) years’ communications/marketing/journalism experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Applicants must also have a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a unionized position, $32.86 per hour - after Probation (Jul 2016 Rate), based on a 35‑hour work week. A comprehensive benefit package is included.
