Job Summary

The City of Nanaimo is seeking casuals for the position of Water/Wastewater Systems Operator-in-Training. Under the direction of a Supervisor, the incumbent will develop the skills to carry out the installation, operation, and maintenance of Water Systems, Sanitary Sewer Systems, Storm Water Collection Systems, and all related appurtenances.

Applicants must have a valid and in good standing EOCP Operator in Training certification (Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection) or equivalent provincial certification with a provincial sharing certification reciprocity. A minimum of 3 months’ experience in the construction and maintenance of water and wastewater infrastructure within a municipal system is required.
Applicants must possess a valid Class 3 BC Driver’s Licence with Air Endorsement.

Compensation and Benefits

These are unionized positions, starting at $29.51 per hour (Jan 2022 Rate). There are no guaranteed hours associated with these positions.
