The City of Nanaimo is seeking two permanent full-time Capital Project Management Specialists. The successful candidate will manage assigned capital projects through all stages of the project overseeing the work of project teams, contractors and consultants. The Capital Project Specialist will take responsibility for the project coordination, engineering, tender preparation, inspection, contract administration, cost control, and stakeholder management.

Applicants must have a minimum of a technical diploma from a recognized College or Technical Institute in a specialty such as engineering, surveying or construction and a minimum of 5 years’ related experience in civil engineering design and construction. Project Management experience through all phases of projects with projects valued of $1 million is also required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Membership, or eligibility for membership, in the Applied Science Technologists, and Technicians of BC as an Applied Science Technologist or Membership, or eligibility for membership with Engineers and Geoscientists BC as an EIT or P. Eng is required. Applicants must also possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence.
Compensation and Benefits
These are unionized positions. $40.09 per hour - after Probation (Jul 2016 Rate), based on a 40 hour work week. A comprehensive benefit package is included. The wage level for this position is subject to confirmation under a union/management jointly negotiated job evaluation plan.
