Bylaw Enforcement Officer

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Bylaw Enforcement Officer. Under the general direction of the Chief Operations Officer, the incumbent investigates complaints from citizens, City departments, Council and other government agencies with respect to alleged infractions of the City’s regulatory bylaws and undertakes appropriate action to gain compliance by negotiation, Council or Court.

Completion of Grade 12 supplemented with successful completion of the Justice Institute of BC – Bylaw and Investigative Skills Program is required. Applicants must have a minimum of 4 years’ directly related experience in the enforcement of municipal bylaws or a combination of knowledge and experience in other investigative fields. Possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check are also required
Compensation and Benefits
This is a unionized position. $33.91 per hour - after Probation (Jul 2016 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week. A comprehensive benefit package is included.
