Job Summary
The City of Nanaimo is seeking a temporary full-time Buyer. Under the direction of the Manager of Purchasing and Stores, the Buyer procures a wide variety of supplies, materials, tools, equipment and services for City departments. This involves reviewing requisitions, preparation of tender and bid documents, vendor sourcing, bid solicitations, procurement, analysis of bids and award recommendation. The Buyer performs administrative duties related to procurement, purchasing and inventory of City of Nanaimo assets.

Requirements
Applicants must have completed Grade 12 and a diploma in Business Administration or have a Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation. A minimum of 4 years’ purchasing experience including 1 year of supervisory experience is required; however, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Applicants must also possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's Licence.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a unionized position. $33.57 - $35.34 per hour (Jul 2016 Rate), based on a 40 hour work week. It is anticipated that this vacancy will be up to one year in duration.
