Nanaimo Operations Center
Staff presented Council with an overview of the business case for a Nanaimo Operations Centre. If approved, the master plan would be implemented over 5-6 years and would consolidate operations from Public Works, Parks, Engineering and Purchasing into one location.
Community Program Development Grant
A recommendation will be going to Council to approve a $4,500 Community Program Development Grant to assist in funding the Storm the Ice program.
Canada Community Revitalization Fund
The City has submitted an application to the Canada Community Revitalization Fund for a $413,300 grant towards Maffeo Sutton Playground Phase 2. Phase 2 of this project will include the supply and installation of an inclusive, accessible playground for 2-5 years old along with upgraded safety surfacing, the inclusion of First Nations artwork and additional landscaping. If funding is received, the project, which is currently scheduled for 2023, would be completed by June 2022.
Quarterly/Biannual Finance Reports
Staff provided Council with a summary of information regarding The City’s Quarterly Purchasing Report (single and sole source purchases, awards in excess of $250,000 and policy non compliance for the quarter 2021-Apr-01 to 2021-Jun-30) as well as Council expenses, operating results and project results for the six months ending 2021-Jun-30.
