REIMAGINE Nanaimo
Staff gave a presentation to the Committee on the progress of REIMAGINE Nanaimo as well as discussed challenges and opportunities with accessibility and inclusiveness.
Section 5 a

Intro to the City’s Transportation Group
Staff gave a presentation to the Committee introducing the Transportation Group as well as discussed challenges and opportunities with accessibility and inclusion in Nanaimo’s transportation.

The following recommendations were made and will be going to Council for approval:

Direct staff to make all transit stops within the City of Nanaimo uniform and highly visible so they are accessible for all citizens. 

Direct staff to prepare a bylaw which prevents garbage cans and recycling cans from being placed on sidewalks, in order to improve accessibility in the City of Nanaimo.
Section 5 b

Leisure Economic Access Pass (LEAP) Program Update
Staff gave an update regarding the Leisure Economic Access Pass (LEAP) program.
Section 6 a

Treat Accessibly Program
Staff gave a presentation regarding the Treat Accessibly Program promoting a free curbside Trick-or-Treating action plan to facilitate an inclusive/accessible Halloween.
