"Park It" Family Challenge

This July and August, join the Parks, Recreation and Culture challenge to discover the parks in your own neighbourhood. PARK your car and then WALK, RIDE your bike or SCOOT to the area and then participate in some activities (pack a picnic, kick a soccer ball, play "tag", bird watch...just some ideas) for a chance to win some prizes.

Let us know what you did by sending us a photo through Instagram (@nanaimoparksandrecreation) using the hashtag #ilovemyparksandrec or email us your photo. Be creative and share with us what you did to discover your neighbourhood parks!

WSET_facebookCity of Nanaimo Water Safety Education Team

Visiting local parks and waterfront areas this summer is the City of Nanaimo's Water Safety Education Team. They will be out and about sharing safety messages with community members around drowning prevention and overall safety in and around the water through demonstrations and creative activities.

The WSET can also be booked for water safety presentations for summer camp youth, daycare children and other community groups by calling Ashley Rowe, Aquatic Coordinator, at 250-756-5243 or through email.

If you are visiting Westwood Lake this summer, take advantage of the Personal Flotation Device Loan Program. You will be able to borrow a PFD while swimming and then return it right there on site. The program is sponsored by the City of Nanaimo and Commercial Aquatic Supplies.
