Nanaimo’s harbour is one of our city’s greatest assets, and the existing Waterfront Walkway showcases its natural beauty. There has been a strong desire in the community to expand the walkway. City Council has made a commitment to develop a plan on how to extend it Departure Bay to Nanaimo River Estuary and improve its connections to other existing trail and bike networks. They have also committed to building five small, but important, sections of the walkway in 2018.
Following three Open Houses and a Design Workshop held this past May and June to gain public input, the City has prepared a draft plan and wants to know what you think.
Join City staff at one of two upcoming Open Houses where you will have the opportunity to:
- Review the draft walkway alignment and cross sections.
- Provide your input on how well the plan addresses the community’s goals.
- Comment on how the plan could be further improved.
Your feedback will be used to refine the draft plan which will then be presented to Council in late October, 2017.
