The Community Engagement Task Force, a group of volunteer citizens working with members of Council and City staff have worked over the past year to develop and test out different methods of engaging with residents at four sessions.
Now that the final session is complete, members of the Community Engagement Task Force will prepare a report on their findings from the Public Engagement Pilot Program and will present to Council in 2019.
Sessions #1, 2, 3 and 4 - Complete!
The Community Engagement Task Force, members of City Council and staff held the first session of the Public Engagement Pilot Program on Thursday, November 23, 2017 in the Vancouver Island Conference Centre. It featured an Open Space Technology format.
The second session was held on Thursday, April 26, 2018 in the Beban Park Social Centre. The format featured a Micro Town Hall format, a concept developed by the Community Engagement Task Force.
The third session was held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm in the Oliver Woods Community Centre and featured a Collaborative Action Process with the purpose to find solutions through collaboration.
Nearly one year after the first session, the fourth was held on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 in the Beban Park Social Lounge. The session focused on building relationships between Council and neighbourhoods.
